Dyslexia

A common learning difficulty, the problem with dyslexic learners is that they face problem while processing words into meaningful information, however that should not stop them from being skilled and achieving well in education. With about 5% - 10% of the world population suffering from some degree of dyslexia, it's apt for aspiring educators to pursue short courses like this to support dyslexic learners. This course will let you understand how the condition affects children and young people, its signs and symptoms, the need for early identification, and an effective teaching plan and approaches.
This course is suitable for early years practitioners and educators in primary school, secondary school, and further education.


Learning outcomes

Understand the condition and how it can affect reading, writing, spelling, and comprehension. Dyslexia isn't just about literacy and affects other areas of learning. These areas will be outlined in the course.
Find out about the other specific learning difficulties/disabilities associated with dyslexia
Learn about the signs and symptoms of dyslexia in the early years, school aged children, and young adults. Persisting factors into adulthood will also be described.
Understand the importance of early identification and Individual Education Plans
